Banesto's main activity in Spain is commercial banking, particularly retail banking and business with small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and shops. It also conducts wholesale banking and activities in the capital markets.
The business areas are structured as follows:
Retail Banking
Retail banking covers a wide range of banking and specialized financial services for each segment:
- Individuals: Innovative marketing campaigns and high value added products (mortgages, credit and debit cards and mutual funds).
- Banesto Premium: Services for individuals with more than € 70,000.
- SMEs, shops and businesses.
- Banking for Companies: As well as providing the basic range of products and services, we also distribute treasury products to medium-size company clients.
Wholesale Banking
This covers the following activities:
- Corporate banking: This embraces a wide range of financial products and services as well as value added products (electronic banking and managing payments for large companies).
- Treasury Activity: The full range of treasury products is offered and with a focus on distributing products among Banesto´s clients.
- Capital Markets: Activities include Project finance, financing of acquisitions, financing of assets, syndicated loans and financial advice for equity operations (mergers and acquisitions, placements, takeover bids, business plans, valuations of the incorporation of strategic partners).
- Banesto Bolsa S.V.B: This broker-dealer conducts operations on behalf of individual and institutional clients.
- International Banking: This area deals with Spanish clients abroad via the main offices in Madrid and a representative office in Mexico.
